How we work
MyNextGameFinder answers two questions that surprisingly rarely get a clear answer: What should I play tonight? And: can we play this together on one sofa — and how many of us?
Where the data comes from
All game data comes from IGDB, one of the largest games databases with more than 300,000 entries. We read co-op facts from its structured multiplayer fields — not from marketing copy or store pages. Cross-play is maintained by hand, because the database has no field for it. Ratings are IGDB’s combined critic and player scores, not our own reviews.
How we select
- The co-op compendium lists 1,273 games — only those with a documented local player count. Without that number a game gets no page of its own, because the page would answer nothing.
- Every ranking in the magazine states its criteria and how many games meet them in total — so you know whether you are seeing 12 of 15 or 12 of 800.
- Lists and figures are rebuilt from the database with every update of the site. New games move in on their own.
- Nobody can buy a place in our lists. The order follows only the stated criteria.
What we deliberately do not claim
When the database lacks a value, we write “not documented” — not “does not exist”. Our co-op facts are therefore a documented minimum. Game descriptions come from the database and are in English, including on the German pages.
Our own counts
Besides the lists, we analyse the database ourselves — with method and date stated in each article:
